Oct. 2007 WALK SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED AND RAISED £28,000 for Charities! Click here to see detailed financial results The fourth annual Testway Sponsored Walk organised by the Rotary Club of Romsey Test was held this year on a gloriously sunny Sunday 14th October with almost 300 walkers taking part. Now a firmly established fund-raising event allowing charities both large and small to help themselves to monies raised by their supporting walkers, over £28,000 was raised after expenses. Almost £20,000 for over 50 charities, and the balance for charities supported by the Rotary Club of Romsey Test , both locally and internationally. This year saw an extension of the distances, with more than 30 walkers covering the 26 miles from St. Mary Bourne back to Romsey, and a large family based contingent enjoying a stroll from Squabb Wood, many with children in pushchairs. These new distances have proved so popular that they will be repeated. Walkers reported this year to the new registration point at the Crosfield Hall Romsey, which provided more comfort and space, and shelter from weather should it have been needed. As before, transport was provided to the starting points, with the marathon walkers setting off before sunrise ! This years walk will be held on Sunday 12th October, again starting in Romsey, when we will be welcoming walkers amongst many others from the Rainbow Centre Fareham who will be celebrating their 18th year providing help and support for children suffering from cerebral palsy. We hope that many more of you will want to support your own favourite charities, and join us on the day. This years target is to attract at least 400 walkers. Rotary could not manage without the help of the ladies of the Romsey Test Inner Wheel Club, Romsey Health Walkers. And many others who contributed to making the day such a success. Also our sponsors who helped with contributions, goods, and services. We thank you all !! John Jones Rotary Club of Romsey Test |
